[책소개]

《불교영어 중급. 1》은 영어회화를 다루었고, 불교 외 역사ㆍ문화ㆍ사상 등을 깊이 있게 살펴볼 수 있도록 하였다. 본문 중간에는 여러 선사들의 선시 등을 소개하여 공부하는 동안 쉬어갈 수 있도록 하였다.

[출판사서평]

1. 교육원 불학연구소에서는 2013년 《불교영어초급 1ㆍ2》을 발간한데 이어, 2014년 《불교영어중급 1ㆍ2》를 발간하게 되었다.

2. 《불교영어중급》은 《불교영어초급》과 마찬가지로 세 부분으로 구성되었다. 1부에서는 《영어회화》, 2부에서는 《불교 교리와 수행》, 3부에서는 《한국불교의 사찰과 문화》를 다루었으며, 본문 중간에는 여러 선사들의 선시 등을 소개하여 공부하는 동안 쉬어갈 수 있도록 하였다. 《불교영어중급 1ㆍ2》는 《불교영어초급 1ㆍ2》보다 불교 외 역사ㆍ문화ㆍ사상 등을 깊이 있게 살펴볼 수 있도록 하였다.

3. 또한 불교영어를 공부하시는 분들의 단어 암기에 대한 어려움을 고려해 각 장의 중요 어휘들을 모아 《불교영어중급 1ㆍ2》의 《영어 단어장》도 제작하여 함께 수록하였다. (《불교영어초급 1ㆍ2》 《영어 단어장》도 함께 제작) 그리고 불교에서 사용하는 중요 개념어를 한글ㆍ한문ㆍ영어ㆍ산스크리트어ㆍ팔리어로 정리하여 국제화 시대에 걸맞은 수준으로 영어를 학습하고 응용할 수 있도록 하였다.

4. 이 외에도 《불교영어중급 1ㆍ2》 가운데 1부에 해당하는 영어회화 및 영어단어를 MP3 파일로 제작하여 대한불교조계종 홈페이지(http://www.buddhism.or.kr/) 상단메뉴 ‘종무행정＞종무자료실＞승가교육’에서 다운로드 할 수 있도록 하였다.

5. 대화의 주제와 내용들이 스님들 중심으로 엮여 있지만, 일반 불자님들도 불교를 영어로 공부하기 쉽게 편찬되었다.
